Intramuscular & Subcutaneous Injections
Intramuscular & Subcutaneous Injections
-
Intramuscular (IM) injections deliver medication into muscle, while subcutaneous (SC) injections deliver it into the fatty tissue beneath the skin. The medication is then absorbed into the circulation, without relying on absorption through the digestive system.
The appropriate method depends on the medication being prescribed and your clinical needs. We explain the proposed treatment and its intended purpose before you decide whether to proceed.
-
We consider your health history, current medicines and any relevant test results to assess whether treatment is appropriate. Blood tests aren’t needed for every injection; we’ll explain what information is required for your care.
All treatments require a prescription and individual clinical assessment. If your treating doctor has already recommended injections, we can discuss whether Cellevate can help administer them as part of your existing care plan.
-
If you already have a prescription and need help with administration, contact us with the medication name and your prescriber’s instructions.
We can confirm whether administration falls within our service and what information is needed before booking. If you already have the medication, please check with us first so we can discuss its supply, storage and appointment requirements.
Where clarification is needed, we can liaise with your prescribing clinician, with your consent.

Cellevate offers mobile appointments across South East Melbourne and West Gippsland, in your home, workplace or another suitable setting.
Your injection is administered by an AHPRA-registered healthcare professional, with time to ask questions and receive aftercare advice. We bring the equipment and discuss any arrangements needed for your appointment beforehand.
-
We confirm the cost, expected appointment length and any preparation before you book, including time for observation where required.
You may need a single appointment or a series of injections, depending on what has been prescribed. If ongoing treatment is recommended, we’ll discuss the timing, follow-up and how to arrange your next appointment.
